Lee Valley is the local group of accredited British Humanist Association ceremony officiants. They aim to offer a dignified and individual alternative to the religious ceremonies associated with birth, marriage and death.

They work closely with the families concerned, advise on appropriate readings and music and will coordinate arrangements as needed with relevant services e.g funeral directors.

1. Funerals - officiants will meet the deceased's family (and, when possible, contact friends, neighbours and/or colleagues) and will compose and conduct an appropriate tribute at the burial or cremation.

2. Weddings - officiants will work with the couple to devise and conduct a personalised wedding ceremony which expresses the values and aspirations of the two persons concerned.

3. Naming or welcoming ceremonies - officiants will, in consultation with parents and any sponsoring adults, prepare and conduct a ceremony of welcome for babies.

Publications available from Lee Valley's Parent organisation, the British Humanist Association (Tel 020 7430 0908), include:- Funerals Without God, New Arrivals, and Sharing the Future.

The Lee Valley Group covers the MK, WD, HP, AL, LU, SG and EN postcode areas.

Registered charity number 285987
