They are a group of about 60-70 members who are all photographic enthusiasts and who like to listen and learn more about photography and how they can improve their skills. Their programme each week is designed to give members a variety in the topics covered and the medium used. For example they have a Club competition each month giving members the opportunity to submit their work to be assessed by a recognised judge. Photographs can be colour or monochrome prints, processed traditionally or digitally and there is also a category for slides. They also have annual competitions run in a similar way.
Some evenings they have workshops to learn or 'brush-up' on photographic skills and these are often run by some of their experienced members. Cups are awarded each year to successful authors in the various competitions. They also participate in competitions against other local photographic clubs.
During the year they have a number of visiting speakers lecturing and using their slides or prints on a variety of topics for very entertaining and informative evenings. These have ranged from travelogues of places around the UK and the World, natural history, landscapes, wildlife, digitial, composition, portraits, etc.
They belong to the East Anglian Federation of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain who also offer day and evening lectures that some members try to attend. They submit work into their annual competitions and have had some recent successes.
