The British Film Institute was established in 1933.
The British Film Institute (bfi) promotes understanding and apprecitaion of Britain's film and television heritage and culture. Through the National Film Theatre, regional touring film sessions, film festivals, the bfi London IMAX Cinema, publishing, Sight and Sound magazine, exhibitions, video/DVD sales, the largest archive and library of film and television materials in the world and educational research and initiatives - the bfi is recognised internationally as a world leader in the promotion of the moving image.
