Summary Alternative Name: NYO (Great Britain)

Renowned as one of the finest youth orchestras in the world, the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain brings together over 150 of the country's most talented young musicians.

NYO provides an unrivalled learning experience for its members and its performances are frequently hailed alongside those of leading professional orchestras - a significant achievement for an orchestra with an average age of 16.

The Orchestra comes together three times a year. Members of the orchestra benefit from individual and sectional training from top professional musicians and work with leading international conductors.

Members are chosen by an audition system that covers the whole country. The playing standard is the equivalent of a good distinction at grade 8 (candidates need not have taken an exam.). Auditions are held annually during Autumn.

There is also a composers course.

Opening Hours: Monday-Friday 9.30am-5.30pm

Publications: NYO Prospectus
