Hitchin Thespians is one of the oldest and largest societies in North Herts, with more than 400 members and patrons ranging from 16 years of age to 70 plus. Founded in 1902, the society's programme is designed to cover a wide range of music and to appeal to all singers.
Each year there are generally two stage shows - usually at the Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage, and concerts in Hitchin and elsewhere, which range from oratorios, masses and requiems to presentations of the works of Gershwin and Ivor Novello.
The Thespians have some very experienced Musical Directors and members new to singing are helped with reading and technique. There is an active social side, with theatre visits and "in house" functions. There have also been regular visits to sing in Bingen, Hitchin's twin town.
Rehersal venue: Woodside Hall, Walsworth Road, Hitchin.
