The Capital Arts Children’s Choir runs an award winning outreach education programme, Opera Minor, which has a strong community base and provides a unique opportunity for children, from all backgrounds, to experience opera and musical theatre. Opera Minor gives young children an opportunity to work with professional performers at the very highest level. It provides an exercise in quality of performance, discipline, commitment and social interaction. It is also an invaluable showcase for contemporary composers and directors and gives children a chance to premiere new works.
Opera Minor has given children an opportunity to perform in La Boheme and Show Boat, both for Raymond Gubbay Limited at the Royal Albert Hall, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the New London Theatre for Bill Kenwright Limited and the Berlioz Te Deum at the Royal Albert Hall with the Barts Choir conducted by Ivor Setterfield of Singing Estate fame.
