Annual music festival which celebrates and encourages excellence in the performance of music in all fields by candidates of all ages, either as soloists or in groups of two or more. There are sections for piano, strings, woodwind, brass, recorder, voice, classical guitar and electric and acoustic guitar. Classes within the sections for ages from 8 years and under to adult, all levels and attainment catered for.

Adjudicators are chosen for their specialist knowledge of their section's instruments and their communication skills. Specialist Prizes are awarded for outstanding performances and potential. The Festival Prize Winner may be offered a performance with the Philharmonic at U/H Orchestra.

The 2008 festival will be taking place on:
* 15th March & 16th March (piano and woodwind, recorder and brass)
* 29th and 30th March (strings, guitar and voice)
* 6th April (finalists competition/concert)

Closing date for entries is the 18th January 2008. Syllabus and entry forms can be obtained from the Administrator (sending an A5 SAE). No residential qualification is needed for entry.

Date of AGM: Early October.

Venue: The John Lill Music Centre, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield.
