The Hertfordshire Youth Jazz Ensemble (HYJE) is directed by Chris Fower and John Human and works with international professional jaxx musicians. The group works both in full and small ensembles (combos), exploring the many styles of jazz performance including vocal coaching and improvisation.
Group meets 3 times a year, sometimes for residential courses and in 2003-2004 season toured to Holland in July to the North Sea Jazz Festival.
Entry is by audition and a minimum standard of Grade VI is required. The upper age limit is 19. For more information, please contact the County Youth Music Activities Co-ordinator via the email address.
