The Stortfolk Music Club is a direct descendent of the Folk Clubs of the 60's and can trace its roots back over thirty years. Always dedicated to the best of acoustic music the club presents what is mainly defined as "folk music" but also stages other aspects of acoustic performance such as Blues, Contemporary, Instrumental etc.
The aims of the Club are twofold. The primary aim is to have a good time listening to folk music in comfortable surroundings and in a friendly atmosphere. The secondary aim of the Club is to provide a platform where performers of any ability can play and be encouraged to develop their skills.
There is also a strong social and charitable aspect to the Club with various events taking place through out the year, including "Wassailing" - a five-night fifty pub, pubcrawl. Through this event, over the last 20 years, the club has raised over £20,000 for local charities.
Costs 2007: Entrance dependent upon event but between £3.50 and £5.50. Reduced entrance for the unwaged. Membership is £5.00 per year.
