Hitchin Folk Club is one of the longest running and most respected clubs in the country. Its first home, 44 years ago, was the Railway Hotel (later the known as the Talisman), in Walsworth Road, and for the past 26 years has met in the sumptous ballroom at the Sun Hotel, in the centre of Hitchin.
Over the years many now famous artistes have appeared at the club, including Paul Simon, Billy Connolly, Jasper Carrott, Richard Digance, Eddie Reader and Fairport, and Ralph McTell, who are still booked on special occasions.
Nationally and sometimes internationally known artistes are booked weekly, ably supported by a wide variety of talented local singers and musicians.
The club has healthy membership spread over the South East, and membership is £5.00 per annum. There is a weekly admission charge which varies depending upon the artiste which has been booked. The charge is usually between £10.00-£12.00.
Date of AGM: July.
