Harpenden Youth Choir

This is a new choir to start from September 2008. Rehersal time, day and venue is not decided yet, please check website for further information.

We aim to create a youth choir for the Harpenden area (which we will interpret very liberally) that will provide performing opportunities to the highest levels of quality achievable. It will be a mixed voice choir, so we will need a good number of chaps to sing tenor or bass.

The age range will be 11-18.

There will be a weekly rehearsal during school terms from 7.00 to 9.00pm in a central Harpenden venue. We haven't yet worked out which day or where it will be.

The weekly sessions will be a mixture of vocal coaching and repertoire rehearsal for concerts. It will be fun and fast-paced, but also hard work. We're setting our sights high and so we will expect you to be very committed to punctuality, absences and behaviour, as well as to the music and presentation.

We hope to put on 3 or 4 concerts a year, some of them with a small orchestra. If this really takes off, as we hope it will, we could find ourselves going on tour at some future stage.

Will you have to audition? Probably but don't panic. It will be quite simple and we realise, in fact we hope, that some of you will have little experience but bags of potential.
