The Ware Choral Society was founded in 1902 and currently has over one hundred members. It was registered in 1996 as a registered charity (no. 1053600) for the study and practice of choral music in order to foster public knowledge and appreciation by public performance.
Under the professional conductor Julian Williamson, the Choir performs the major oratorios with soloists and orchestras of national repute. There are no auditions for chorus membership, but a good singing voice and some ability to read music, together with an enthusiastic approach are useful attributes.
Rehearsals are on Wednesdays at 7.30pm at the Riverside Hall, Priory Street, Ware.
Concerts are given locally and occasionally in London with no distant or foreign tours. There is an annual seasonal concert in December and a further 2 major concerts (February and June) in the Drill Hall in Ware.
Subscriptions are £50 per half year.
