Bellringing takes place on the eight bells at St Nicholas Church in Harpenden, twice on Sundays prior to services, and there is a weekly practice on Wednesdays.
Bellringing is a fascinating hobby which anyone, of any age, can learn. All that is required is a reasonable sense of co-ordination and rythm - you certainly do not have to be musical, mathematical or immensely strong. It is a lifelong hobby and like all worthwhile things, takes a little time to learn.
Tuition is initially on a one-to-one basis until the basics of bell control are mastered, and then takes place with the rest of the band on Wednesday evenings. Once you have mastered the initial stages you can ring not just in Harpenden, but anywhere in the country as ringers are a friendly bunch!
For more details please phone or Email and they can arrange for you to see what it's all about. The current group numbers about 15, but they always need more recruits. Annual Subscription to the Hertford County Association of Change Ringers is £7; once you have become a member.
