The Club was established in 1935 when it was one of the first duplicate bridge clubs in the country. It provides events and facilities for all skill levels from newcomers to internationals and for all ages from juniors to senior citizens.
The aim is to provide Duplicate Bridge activities every day at the Bridge Centre, Gosling Sports Park, Tel 01707 331056. Club Tel 01707 333959.
Regular Evening Bridge Events
Duplicate pairs are held most weekday evenings with results counting towards the Annual Ladders.
Regular pairs events on Monday and Wednesday evenings are open to all but slanted towards the more experienced.
Tuesday evenings are for the less experienced and for debutants to bridge. The events enable them to add progressively to their knowledge so that it is an easy step to graduate to other evenings.
Monday morning is an ordinary duplictae and Thursday mornings are for those who would like to seek advice during a Duplicate Event or wish to start playing competitive events.
Wednesday morning is an individual event.
Thursday evenings are restricted to simple bidding conventions and would suit those wishing to gain experience to move on to Mondays and Wednesdays.
Friday mornings are for workshops and post-mortem pairs for those who wish to develop their game.
Special events for club trophies are held on Friday evenings. The Club is the venue for many of the County competitions on Fridays.
Sundays are for major events and the home venue for Hertfordshire in the Eastern Counties League. The club is now the venue for two national events by the English Bridge Union.
Visitors are welcome to all regular events but not trophy events. Visit the club's website for partnership desk details. Please call to check if you intend to visit.
For all events hands are dealt by computer and a copy of the hands is available at the end of each event to take home for analysis.
Most events are scored on bridgemate.
