Artist's statement:
I am primarily a painter and printmaker as well as making collages and freely hanging works using a mix of papers and fabrics. Texture plays an important role in my work.
The written word interests me and I often incorporate script into my work. Both my prints and canvases have a recurring motif of ceramic vessels which I research here and abroad. The simple lines of a utilitarian object appeals to me not only for its beauty but also because of the symbolism it evokes which to me is femininity, a womb.
Depicting a subjective experience and the emotion generated is what I aim to express. An intense feeling which could be shocking or delightful fires my imagination and inspires.
