Artist's Statement
My figurative paintings, mainly watercolour, have structure to them that comes from a love of drawing and an appreciation of buildings and landscapes. An original wish to be an architect was taken over by a preference for working in wood which lead me to find an appenticeship in a firm of antique furniture restorers in London. I now have a business in a former bakery in Bushey, which provides workshop accommodation and gallery space for furniture and my paintings.
Currently my artwork reflects those timeless and wild landscapes of Dartmoor and Scotland. I am also quite at home in the more manicured scenery of my native Hertfordshire and in particular, the canal network.
