Hertfordshire Open Studios is an annual event held in September, organised by Hertfordshire Visual Arts Forum, as a celebration of the fine arts and crafts of Hertfordshire.
Please check the website for details of this years events.
Each year sees around 200 artists open their studio or home, or get together in groups, to show their work. Many also provide demonstrations of their skills.
The event is open to all artists and craftspeople in the county and provides an opportunity for them to meet the public, increase awareness of and access to the visual arts and discuss ideas and working methods. Work is usually for sale and commissions are often welcomed.
Entry forms for artists wishing to take part are available in January/February and the closing date for applications is 31st March.
The Open Studios event is publicised via a targeted media campaign. 25,000 colour brochures, which include a photo of artists' work, are distributed across the county. Visitors can pick up a free brochure from libraries and tourist information offices from July, or view a full electronic version on the hvaf.org.uk web site.
