The Digswell Arts Trust believes that art benefits all people and communities. It provides studios and workshops at affordable costs for professional artists and craftspersons at its studios in Welwyn Garden City and Stevenage and gives them the opportunity for exhibitions and training to help them to develop their careers. DAT artists take part in a wide range of projects to bring art into the wider community.
Both sets of studios open their doors to the public with "Open Studios" exhibitions several times a year. For details of exhibitions, other projects, or information about the artists currently working at the Trust, pleasse visit the website.
DAT is keen to find partners for arts projects. If you would like artists to take part in workshops for schools or community groups, or wish to join the Trust in making a funding bid for a larger project, please contact the Trust.
The Trust seeks promising and dedicated artists who wish to work in a community with others and have an interest in involvement with the wider community. DAT has supported a wide range of artists and craftspeople for over 45 years, including: blacksmithing, book illustration, ceramics, community arts, dance, electronic music, etching, film making, furniture making, industrial design, jazz, metalworking, painting, poetry, sculpture, textiles, woodworking, etc.
In February 2001, the Trust opened the New Maynard Gallery, the first public art gallery in Welwyn Garden City for 20 years.
