The Society was founded in 1921 and with over 170 members is one of the largest art organisations in the area. The "welcome everybody" philosophy includes young and old, amateur beginners and seasoned professionals.
Meetings are on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, 7.30pm-9.30pm, at Beechen Grove Baptist Church Hall at the top of Clarendon Road, Watford. An induction loop helps those with hearing aids. Visitors are always welcome. Free and secure parking in Barclays Bank car park next door.
The evenings are varied, with demonstrations and illustrated talks covering many art-related topics of general interest. Other activities include a weekly painting/sketching group, outings to exhibitions and galleries, workshops and at least one exhibition of members' work every year. A comprehensive selection of books, videos and magazines is available for members to borrow.
The Society is affiliated to the Watford Area Arts Forum.
