The object of the society is to stimulate interest in fine art - painting and sculpture etc by means of lectures and visits to exhibitions, art galleries, studios, private collections and stately homes in Britain and abroad.
Lectures are held monthly from January to May and September to November inclusive at the Radlett Centre. Entrances is free to members and £4.00 non-members.
Publications: Newsletter (4 times a year).
Annual art exhibition of members' works is held at the Radlett Centre for one week in June. Free to the public.
Membership is open to all. Current annual subscription is £15.00 per person and £5.00 students in full time study.

The society also organises a practical workshop with life, portrait and landscape painting, also teaching demonstrations. This has proved so popular there are no vacancies at present.
