This is an amateur, non political and democratic organisation with working groups meeting on most days of the week. It has its own gallery (Denington Galleries: please see separate entry for more details), pottery, workshops and studios at its headquarters in Springfield House in Stevenage.
It holds three exhibitions every year in the Denington Galleries, one of which is open to members and non-members subject to selection. It mounts an annual exhibition during January and February in the Foyer Bar of the Gordon Craig Theatre, and also provides members' pictures for display in the premises of some local companies.
The workshop provides a pleasant working environment for up to 15 artists. The lighting is good, and the specialist work tables can be folded away so that easels can be used. The Pottery has room for about half-a-dozen potters.
Springfield House overlooks the Bowling Green at the northern end of Old Stevenage High Street. It is primarily the Old Stevenage Community Centre, but also accommodates the Artists' Co-operative and Denington Galleries.
Membership is open to anyone interested in participating in the fine arts.
There is a full programme of Events and Activities throughout the year.
