The NCCPG aims to conserve, document and make available Britain's great biodiversity of garden plants for the benefit of horticulture, education and science. It is the organisation for the National Collections Scheme and holds over 640 collections.
The local group runs a programme of talks and other activities. A few highlights are as follows:
* 17th Jan - How New Zealanders bring Nostalgia into their Gardend by Neil Ross;
* 21st Feb - Alpine Flowers by Kaxakhstan and the Tien Shan;
* 20th Mar - Capel Manor history by Tom Cole;
* 17th Apr - Charles Darwin, Gardener by Cyril Aydon;
* 15th May - The development of Penstemons as garden plants by David Way;
* 19th June - Summer Social at 'Seal Point' in Luton;
* 18th September - Variegation by Joe Sharman;
* 16th October - Celebrity Lecture - Year round bulb garden by Christine Skelmersdale;
* 20th November - AGM;
* 18th December - Holly wreath making the old way by Barry Gayton;
There are also visits to gardens and nurseries and purely social events. Visitors are always welcome. Please ring for further information.
Talks are on Thursdays at 7.30pm at Verulamium Roman Museum. Other events at different times and places.
Free to members; non-members £3.00.
