The aim of the Sir Thomas Tyldesley's Regiment is to accurately portray life during the 17th century and especially the English Civil Wars.
They do this in a number of ways:
* battle re-enactments where large numbers of soldiers take to the field;
* living history events where they demonstrate life as it would have been for soldiers and civilians of that period;
* drill displays to demonstrate the use and handling of weapons from the Civil War period.
The Regiment have provided entertainment for the public, education for members and non-members and helped to raise funds for a variety of sponsors.
There is an active social side to their activities, for example banquets are held several times each year and there are smaller, local groups throughout the country which meet for meals/drinks etc.
The Regiment's activities are family oriented - everyone is welcome, young, old, men and women.
Affiliated organisations: English Civil War Society (Colonel John Hampden His Regiment of Foote).
