The National Association of Re-enactment Societies was founded in 1991, and acts for re-enactment societies in the manner of a professional or trade association. 85% of British re-enactment is thereby represented by one body.
The association has been successful in modifying government policy and has brought re-enactment to the attention of the government as a positive and self-regulating hobby. They provide information to their members on firearms legislation, Health and Safety, Edged Weapons Construction and Use, Working in the Media etc.
Associate membership is open to societies with less than 25 members or commercial organisations. Full membership is available to societies with membership of 50 or above. However, membership is not available to individuals.
