Hitchin Museum is situated in Paynes Park, Hitchin and is open daily from 10.00am-5.00pm. Closed Wednesdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
The museum tells the story of Hitchin's history through imaginative displays and interactives. They hold the Hertfordshire Yeomanry Collection and an impressive costume collection covering 200 years. There is a reconstructed Victorian Chemist's Shop complemented by a Physic Garden of medicinal plants and shrubs.
There is a varied programme of special exhibitions and events. Admission is free.

Directions: Hitchin Station is over a mile away (20 minute walk). Bus 423 stops within a 5 minutes walk.
Accessibility: Good disabled parking. Good signage; a well-lit car park and entrance. Ground floor access for wheelchairs. Accessible to a wheelchair user travelling with assistance. There is an audio unit which explores Hitchin's history within living memory in the ground floor Social History gallery.
