This, family friendly museum, is in part of a restored 15th-century hall house, in the High Street, in Old Amersham near the Market Hall. The house provides a large part of the interest in the museum.
Exhibits tell the stories of the Romans in Amersham, the Amersham Martyrs and the medieval wall paintings, the coaching town and its wheelwrights, the local crafts of lace making, straw plaiting and chair making, the Workhouse, Fair and Market and Weller's Brewery and much, much more. There is a herb garden with seats on the terrace.
Entrance costs: Adults £2.00, children free.
Disabled access to ground floor and courtyard.
The Museum is a registered charity set up and run by volunteers, with a professional curator.
Opening Hours: Easter Saturday to the end of October on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday afternoons from 2.00pm to 4.30 pm. In addition from June to September the museum is also open on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
Visits at other times can be arranged for group bookings.
Regular conducted walks of the historic town will continue from Easter Sunday until the last Sunday in October. These take place every Sunday afternoon at 2.30pm. Starting at the museum.
