Historical Association (Hertfordshire Branch)

The Historical Association aims to promote history in its widest sense. It offers publications, lectures and courses for specialists and teachers. The local lectures are open to members of the general public.

Upon joining the national Organisation, a member automatically becomes a member of the local branch.

Venue: Meets at the Backhouse Room, Handside Lane, Welwyn Garden City. Lectures begin at 3.00pm, unless otherwise stated.

Membership offers:
* Information on the above, plus a quarterly magazine, the 'Historian';
* Other journals at a discount (History, Teaching History, Annual Bulletin of Historical Literature);
* Day conferences;
* Visits to historic sites.

* 13th February 2010: 'Welwyn Garden City' by Jenny Oxley, Curator Welwyn Hatfield Museum Service, Mill Green Museum and Mill;
* 13th March 2010: 'Public Health in the nineteenth century: bullied into good health? by Virgina Berridge, Professor of History, Centre for History in Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
