HALH is an independent association having been established in 1949 as the Hertfordshire Local History Council. It seeks to promote the study of local history throughout Hertfordshire. A Registered Charity No. 280499, it is supported by a large number of individual members, local history and amenity groups, museums and other organisations. It acts as a co-ordinating and umbrella body and has the support of Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies (HALS).
Membership is open to any interested individual or organisation whether they live in Hertfrordshire or elsewhere. To join, download and complete the membership application form which can be found on our website or contact the Hon.Secretary (as above), or a membership form which may be found in local libraries or museums.
Events: Each year HALH organises a Spring Lecture with the AGM; a Summer Garden Party visiting a historic house / village; an Autumn Symposium arranged in different areas of the County.
