The East Herts Archaeological Society is the oldest archaeological society in this part of the country. Its records and publications, which go back to 1899, are a valuable source for any student doing a research project in local history.
In addition the EHAS library has an unrivalled collection of journals about archeaology from other parts of Britain, and indeed from many parts of the world. Our interest does not only cover what is below ground, we have many studies of existing or recently demolished historic buildings, particularly the timber-framed buildings which are one of the glories of our local heritage.
What does EHAS have to offer:
* Access to the research collections of EHAS.
* Being in touch with all current archaelogical digs in East Herts where volunteers are welcome.
* Lectures held on the first Saturday in October, November, February & March, when experts give illustrated talks on local and international archeaology, and on local buildings and historical topics.
* Excursions in the summer months led by experts in their field.
Please contact the EHAS for details of membership and costs.
