British Association of Dermatologists

The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) is the professional organisation representing UK dermatologists. The organisation provides a range of disease information and holds a number of awareness campaigns. For example every year the BAD runs Sun Awareness Week and a sun safety campaign all summer, by distributing free information and resource packs to anyone who wants to learn more and educating people through the media. The website contains information on a vast rang of skin diseases which can be printed off free of charge and hard copies of patient information leaflets are also available. The organisation can also provide members of the public with a list of Consultant Dermatologists in their area.

The British Association of Dermatologists is the central and long established association of practising UK dermatologists, whose aim is to continually improve the treatment and understanding of skin disease.

The BAD has several clearly defined objectives:

* Promote high quality care for patients with skin disease by setting and monitoring standards of service delivery.

* Promote the best training and education of all personnel involved in delivery of dermatological care.

* Promote all aspects of dermatology research to improve the understanding, diagnosis and management of skin disease.

* Support members and represent the views of the membership to local, national and international bodies.

* Raise awareness of all facets of skin health and disease to the public, influential bodies and the Government.
