The organisation aims to:
* Provide practical and emotional support for people with HIV and AIDS, their partners, families and carers.
* Promote awareness and understanding of HIV and AIDS issues through information and training.
* Improve access to services by co-operating with existing statutory and voluntary organisations.
The organisation offers information and practical support, such as transport (particularly for ill and frail people), decorating, gardening and small grants from the Hardship Fund. Herts Aid also offers HIV awareness and Health Promotion Training.
Volunteers run a monthly Quality of Life Club meeting social outings every second month. Volunteers can train to be befrienders to support clients regularly by visiting at home or in hospital.
Herts Aid offers peer support events such as monthly mens and womens lunches.
Herts Aid offers free complementary therapies to people living with HIV and AIDS.
They will shortly be offering a Chlamydia screening service, (times to be arranged) and an itext messaging service which will enable young people to text in and ask for information and guidance in an anonymous, confidential way.
