Community Drug and Alcohol Teams (CDAT) provide assessment and structured treatment interventions including community prescribing and detoxification. They also co-ordinate inpatient detoxification and residential rehabilitation and work with the voluntary sector and other agencies linked to the government drive to reduce drug related crime.
The teams offer a range of services including:
* Access to a specialist range of support and counselling services e.g. hospitals, residential rehabilitation, day care, psychotherapy.
* Detoxification supported and supervised by a range of medical and professional staff.
* A prescribing service.
Access to the CDAT's can be via a referral from a GP or health and social care professional or can be made by individuals directly to the teams.
