St Albans and District Voluntary Diabetic Support Group

The St Albans and District Voluntary Diabetic Support Group is affiliated to Diabetes UK, which is a registered charity. The local group is run by a committee of volunteers.

Meetings take place on the first Tuesday of each month with the exception of January and August at 7.30pm at the Post Graduate Medical Centre, St Albans City Hospital.

This is a freely available service and there is no membership required.

The aim is to provide a service that brings local people with diabetes and professionals together to provide information, education and support. These aims are formalised as:

* providing information, support, understanding, education about their condition and friendship for local people with diabetes.

* bringing issues that concern people with diabetes and awareness of their needs to the notice of those with power and authority.

* raising and distributing money for all purposes linked to diabetes.

* representing local people with diabetes locally and nationally.
