Star Scope is an independent charity which was formed in 1955 as St Albans and District Spastic Society. They are a local organisation which provides support and assistance to people who have cerebral palsy, their parents, families and carers.
Star Scope activities provide support and advice to individuals, parents who have children with Cerebral Palsy and parents whose children have been newly diagnosed. They hold regular coffee mornings to which all are welcome.
They provide information on, and signposting to, services locally and nationally (both statutory and voluntary) and provide small financial grants to purchase necessary equipment and aids.
They exist to promote disability awareness locally and campaign for improvements in services and attitudes. They campaign on behalf of people with Cerebral Palsy in the locality.
The money raised helps towards purchasing specialised equipment for people locally, ranging from bath aids and wheelchairs to specialised computers for school work.
There is a regular monthly coffee morning for parents of children with Cerebral Palsy.
