The Mental Health Centre is the gateway to the range of mental health services for people living in the St Albans and district communities. The centre is part of a statutory network of services for people with mental health problems, whose staff aim to work with service users, carers, GPs and the voluntary sector.
The team consist of community psychiatric nurses, mental health social workers, occupational therapist, psychologists, psychotherapists, admin staff, receptionist, placement advisor, link worker. Also based at the centre is the local community drug and alcohol team, and psychiatric out patients.
Opening times:
Monday to Thursday from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Friday from 9.00am to 4.15pm.
The Duty Worker will see people who walk in for advice between the hours of 10.00am-4.00pm. This service is dependent on availability and whenever possible an appointment should be booked.
Referals are mainly via GPs, health visitors or other professional agency. Self referrals and those by concerned family members will be received.
Help offered includes, individual work, treatment of service users at home, monitoring medication, assessment for hospitals, access to residential services, practical help, support for carers and a range of therapeutic work.
