We are an established NHS counselling service offering different types of brief, focused counselling at GP surgeries in the Welwyn and Hatfield area.
Counselling offers the opportunity to talk to someone outside your circle of family and friends. It can help address everyday problems and life crises including relationship difficulties, life changes (illness, bereavement, loss, redundancy, becoming a parent), anxiety, panic attacks, obesessive-compulsive behaviour, phobias and depression.
The counsellor can help you understand what is happening and to find ways to address your difficulties.
We offer integrative, humanistic and psychodynamic counselling, and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, in particular, looks at how patterns of thinking affect how you feel and how you behave. The approach is structured and you agree goals with your counsellor and try out ideas between sessions. This type of cousnelling is helpful for anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive or complusive behaviour, phobias and depression.
The counselling we offer is brief (usually six sessions) and most people find this effective. We can provide details of other services if we do not offer the type of therapy most likely to help you.
