Amongst Marriage Care's activities are:
Marriage preparation and relationship education: working in partnership with schools, colleges and churches, Marriage Care provide marriage preparation courses and trained volunteers provide relationship education sessions in schools for younger people.
Counselling: Marriage Care has 56 local centres offering relationship counselling to people irrespective of their creed, colour or background. Counsellors provide a listening ear to enable individuals and couples to reflect on their relationship and plan for a future together or apart. Counsellors are professionally trained and also receive in service training and supervision.
Other areas of work include policy and advocacy and running media campaigans to encourage communities to consider marriage as the bedrock of a just society.
Marriage Care runs a telephone helpline which is open on Monday to Friday, 10.00pm-4.00pm. The number is 0845 660 6000. This is an information and listening service for men and women facing difficulties within their marriage, family or close personal relationships.
