Grove House offers eight free services to help meet the needs of local people living with a life threatening illness, and their families and carers.
You can refer yourself for a specific service by phoning Grove House directly. Referrals can also be made by GP's, nurses, consultants, physiotherapists, or any other healthcare professional.
The Robert Runcie Day Hospice is a nurse-led service. Patients who attend benefit from care and support in a warm environment. The nurses seek to assist patients by ensuring that their physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs are met. Patients can also get support from each other in a group setting.
Family Support Services offer individual counselling and support groups for patients, families and carers. The service is also for anyone who has been bereaved through cancer. Family Support offers advocacy, welfare benefits advice and information for health professionals.
Grove House at Home is for patients who would benefit from support at home. Trained volunteers offer home sitting, befriending and complentary therapies. The service is offered from Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm and at weekends, depending on volunteer availability.
The CANCER-i Centre provides a wide range of information and support on a drop-in basis to anyone concerned with, or affected by cancer or other life-threatening diseases. Patients, families and carers can access the right information at each stage of illness - whether they want to know more about cancer or are looking for practical information about support groups or benefits.
CANCER-i is open from Monday to Friday from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
The Cancer the Next Step programme is offered to newly diagnosed people up to the age of 60. During the 8-week programme, the team helps patients through the physical and emotional effects of cancer.
The Spiritual Care service welcomes people of all faiths, or none. Patients have time for prayer or quiet refelection and the opportunity to talk about spiritual issues.
The Outpatient Clinics are open to all patients and their families and carers. The Clinical Nurse Specialist or doctor can offer one-to-one advice and support and can help ease medical concerns.
Grove House offers a range of Therapies. Our Physiotherapist offers treatments to reduce swelling or pain, help mobility and make breathing easier. The Occupational Therapist ensures that patients have equipment and adaptations at home so they can stay independent. Complementary Therapies can help with relaxation, anxiety, depression or pain.
