HHAS has over 50 trained volunteers visiting elderly people in Hertfordshire who are hard of hearing in order to maintain their hearing aids for optimum benefit, thereby reducing the isolation and bewilderment that hearing loss can cause.
HHAS also offers advice and information on a wide range of assistive equipment, such as TV and telephone aids, text phones, flashing doorbells and alarm clock for use at home or work, through a permanent display at the Woodside Centre in Welwyn Garden City. They have now extended this service to Local Resource Centres in Stevenage, Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead.
Also available for Care Professionals and front line NHS staff: Deafness Awareness training, Communication Tactics training and Hearing Aid training. Advice on loop systems for public areas and also a loop installation service.
A Mobile Hearing Support Service schedule regular visits to 29 venues throughout the County every month.
Details of all these services including schedules and location maps for the mobile service and the resource centres, and more, can be obtained by visiting the HHAS website.
