The British Acupuncture Council was formed in 1995 by the unification of the five member groups of the Council of Acupuncture (1980-1995). The previous associations were: the British Acupuncture Association & Register; the Chung San Acupuncture Society; the International Register of Oriental Medicine; the Register of Traditional Chinese Medicine; and the Traditional Acupunture Society.
The BAcC, in addition to governing its members, works to maintain common standards of education, ethics, discipline and Codes of Practice to ensure the health and safety of the public at all times. It is also committed to promoting research and enhancing the role that traditional acupuncture can play in the health and well-being of the nation.
