STARFISH (Support, Tea, Advice, Resources, Friendship In South Herts) is a support group for parents/carers of children who have difficulties in any area of their development.
It provides an opportunity for parents/carers to meet together in a friendly relaxed atmosphere where their children are supervised and occupied by trained health professionals.
The children will usually be aged from 0 to 8 years. However, there is no strict upper age limit. Parents who have children at school are always welcome as well. During the school holidays they may wish to bring their school children with them. Siblings are also always welcome.
For most meetings they invite someone to talk to the parents/carers about a possible relevant topic (eg disability living allowance, feeding difficulties, speech development, education for children with special needs).
They feel it is important that there is no pressure to attend every month, parents/carers are free to go as often or as little as it suits them.
