Parentline Plus is the amalgamation of Parentline, National Step-family Association and Parent Network.
Parentline Plus aims to:
* Support parents through a range of intergrated and responsive services, who are having problems with their children (of any age);
* Prevent child abuse of all forms, including sexual abuse.
Parentline Plus helpline is run by parent volunteers who have been trained to listen. Their main tasks are to listen, to care and to hear callers' experiences. That may be all that is needed.
Other services:
* free textphone 0800 783 6783 for people with a speech or hearing impairment;
* parenting sessions and workshops;
* information leaflets;
* an interactive website;
* referral and individual telephone support;
* email service;
* training for professional.
If professional help is needed, or another group that can help with a specific problem, callers can be referred.
The helpline service is anonymous and confidential and operates 24 hours - 7 days a week.
Volunteers need no special qualifications - they just need to have parenting or caring for a child skills. Training will be given and must be undertaken. New volunteers are very welcome. The training programme is in Spring and Summer.
