National Childbirth Trust (Cheshunt and Broxbourne)

The NCT introduces mums to others in the area, through coffee mornings and social events. It also offers qaulified ante-natal classes and breast feeding advice and support.

The NCT is the charity that campaigns for and supports those who are going through this incredible life event.

The NCT does not tell parents how to manage their pregnancies, how to give birth or how to feed and care for their babies.

NCT membership enables the charity to provide the following:
* Antenatal classes to 32,000 expectant parents every year;
* Breastfeeding counselling service for 60,000 mothers;
* NCT postnatal leaders provide courses for new parents;
* An enquiries line taking 80,000 telephone enquiries per annum;
* Rental schemes for breastpumps and cushions that alleviate perineal pain;
* NCT bras for breastfeeding - a fitting service run by trained volunteer agents or mailorder purchase via NCT sales;
* Matches for 1,000 people needing mutal support with pregnancy, birth or postnatal problems or concerns;
* A range of information sheets, leaflets and books for both parents and health professionals;
* A mailorder service - NCT sales - selling charming and useful products that have been specially selected by the NCT after listening to what parents tell them they find helpful and really appreciate.
