Home-Start is a voluntary organisation in which volunteers offer support, friendship and practical help to families in their own home, where there is at least one child under the age of five.
All volunteers attend a 12 week course of preparation, are checked by the Criminal Records Bureau and abide by the Home-Start rules of confidentiality. Volunteers of all ages and background are welcomed. Courses are run every year, please contact us if you are interested.
Home-Start nationally is over 30 years old and there are 350 schemes throughout the U.K. and abroad. Referrals can be made by families themselves, health visitor or social worker.
Volunteers are supported throughout their involvement with Home-Start and receive one-to-one supervision from the Co-ordinators and group meetings with other volunteers.
