Royal Meteorological Society

"The Royal Meteorological Society is the national society for all those whose professional or interests are in any way connected with meteorological or related subjects. It administers the national qualification of the profession and under its Royal Charter pursues its purpose of the advancement of meteorological science. Recent developments have widened the interpretation of the term meteorological science to include its day-to-day application in weather forecasting and in disciplines such as agriculture, aviation, hydrology, marine transport and oceanography, as well as in the areas of climatology, climate change and the interaction bewtween the atmosphere and the oceans." - Royal Meterological Society web site 2006.
