Rothamsted Research is sponsored by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
Rothamsted is almost certainly the oldest agricultural research station in the world. Its foundation dates from 1843 and the collaboration between John Bennett Lawes and Joseph Henry Gilbert.
Rothamsted brings an integrated approach to the study of crop plants - from the molecular level to the field. There is a major international dimension to Rothamsted's work.
