Barnet Gate Wood was probably originally part of the huge Middlesex Forest which covered most of North London in the last ice age.
The nature trail should take up to an hour to complete, and passes up steps and through kissing gates. Walkers should be prepared as rain can make the paths muddy. Visitors follow the arrow posts to find their way around.
There is access from Hendon Wood Lane, and a longer route on foot from Moat Mount Local Nature Resrve, along the London LOOP and Dollis Valley Green Walk.
The meadow area is managed for wildlife under a Countryside Stewardship Scheme.
Parent organisation: Barnet Borough Council.
