Maple Lodge Conservation Society manages the reserve on behalf of Thames Water. Due to restrictions imposed by Thames Water access to the reserve is via membership of the Conservation Society.

Membership is open to any one with an interest in any aspect of natural history. Prospective members are given a tour of the reserve prior to accepting membership. Members carry out practical conservation work on the reserve, volunteers are always welcome. There are eight hides around the lakes, there is disabled access to three of the hides.
