Friends of Cassiobury Park came into being in 1973 to challenge the local Council proposals for what was considered to be inappropriate development of the Park.
Since then The Friends have worked in harmony with the council in order to protect and preserve the exceptional natural features of the park, notable amongst which is the wetlands area with its corresponding wildlife habitats and wealth of flora, birdlife, and fresh water animal life.
Currently an important project is the maintenance of former watercress beds as an outstanding wildlife habitat together with streaming clearing.
The Friends are deeply involved in the enhancement of all aspects of the park in order to preserve its superb environment, probably unmatched in the Home Counties.
Please contact the Secretary if interested in trees, plants, birds, and animals; and in the general conservation and management of the park, woodland and wetlands.
