The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is Europe's largest wildlife conservation charity. It has more than a million members and champions the conservation of wild birds and the environment, working at local regional, national and international levels.
In working for a countryside rich in birds and other wildlife, the RSPB is currently seeking better legal protection for wildlife sites, working to reverse declines in farmland birds and addressing transport and climate change issues.
The RSPB strives to protect the best places for birds by managing sites as nature reserves and fighting development proposals that threaten important wildlife sites. It has 168 nature reserves around the UK which creates a safe haven for wildlife and attract more than a million visitors a year.
The RSPB also has a network of 600 local groups for adults and young people in local communities (and schools) throughout the UK. These bring the environment to life through regular meetings, events and projects.
